"Obi"

January 9, 2000 - August 2009

In August 2009, I said goodbye to this sweet, brilliant boy.
I want to thank all those friends who supported and encouraged us, and who took the time to get to know Obi and see beyond his issues to the awesome little dog he was.

NEW ONYX!! 20,000 Points
Obi earned his ONYX title at the Clean Break Flyball Tournament in York, PA. October 2007
Obi says that playing flyball is ALOT more fun that getting your picture taken!

Obi was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi who competed in flyball, freestyle, canine disc, and agility. Flyball was definitely Obi's biggest passion. He loved it and had a hard time containing himself whenever he knew he was going to run. Obi earned his Flyball Master Champion title in 2006 and His ONYX in October 2007. He earned his Flyball Grand Champion-30K Title in June 2009 and was the 6th Pembroke Welsh Corgi to earn the title. He competed on a team called 4 Dog Night, based in Columbia, Maryland.

2009
Canine Musical Freestyle - Novice/Intermediate Division

"The Portuguese WasherWoman"

Below are photos of our routine, called, 'The Portuguese Washerwoman.
This routine is choreographed as a skit and we competed in WCFO Video Competitions in the Novice Division.
We had hoped to take it to the Intermediate level as well.
Obi earned his first Musical Freestyle Novice Title (WFDX-MF) with this routine in 3 international video competitions, earning 1st place in his division in all 3 events.
The third event was a qualifying event for the first WCFO World competition, so we qualified to enter the routine in that video event as well. We'll now await the results of that competition, hopefully in December of 2009.

In July 2009, we performed the routine in the Innovation division at the WCFO Star Spangled Swing Freestyle Event in Beltsville, MD.

CANINE DISC - MICRO DOG

In 2006, Obi tried his paw at canine disc and competed in the Hyperflite Skyhoundz 2006 NE Regional Championship competition in Annapolis, MD, hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Disc Dogs.

He competed in the Micro Dog Division, which is for dogs under 25 pounds and not more than 16 inches tall. Micro Dogs use a smaller canine disc than the standard disc. Obi had a great time and actually placed third.

We stopped competing in disc dog, because I was concerned that he would not hesitate to jump for it, no matter how high it was....
