Ruby is a red tri Australian Shepherd, born April 26, 2007.

Ruby's registered name is taken from her dam and sire's kennel names, Nightwatch and Sonryz and from the song "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack, which is a beautiful song of love, hope, faith, and an appreciation of life.

Her call name, "Ruby" was suggested just because of her color. It seemed to fit her, but it didn't really go with her registered name. Then a dear friend found the following information in a book about crystals and their properties:

Energy. Imparting vigor to life. Encourages a passon for life. Energizes and balances. Promotes positive dreams...Brings about a positive and courageous state of mind....

Ruby is 2 years old now and is competing in Canine Musical Freestyle, Rally, and Flyball.

FLYBALL

Ruby made her Flyball Debut in September 2009 and really loves it. She earned her first two titles FD, and FDX at her first tournament and her FDCH (Flyball Champion - 500 points) at her 2nd tournament in October 2009. In November 2009, she earned her FDCH-Silver title (1,500 points) and is now working on her FDCH-Gold.

FREESTYLE

Ruby started doing freestyle as a puppy....

At 4 months old, she was already going to canine musical freestyle class with me on Saturdays. Below is a short clip of Ruby doing some fun "puppy freestyle", just playing and moving to music. The song?

2008

In May 2008, Ruby earned her first Freestyle title, WFD-MF (WCFO Freestyle Dog - Musical Freestyle) to a different version of Ruby Baby.

She now competes in the Novice MF level.

2009

November 8, 2009 - Ruby earned her WFD-HTM title (Beg B Heelwork To Music) at the Barkaritaville Freestyle competition in Red Lion, PA.

Heelwork To Music requires the dog and handler to stay in close proximity to each other (no distance work is allowed) and heel position must be maintained throughout the performance. No Jumping, Distance Work, or Weaves are allowed, which is a challenge.

Ruby was a very good girl and earned her title in one show, earning 1st Place both days in her division.

She will now go on to compete at the Novice level in both Musical Freestyle (MF) and Heelwork To Music (HTM).

RALLY

I started doing Rally Obedience with Ruby in 2008 as well. She has competed in both AKC and APDT Rally.

Ruby competed in her first APDT Rally trial in June 2008 and earned her RL1 title. In May, 2009, she earned her RL2 title and is now working towards her RL1X, RL2X, and her ARCH.

In November 2009, Ruby earned her AKC Rally Novice title (RN) and is now working on her AKC Advanced Rally title.

At 6 months, Ruby started playing with Obi, the evil corgi. Their favorite game was to take turns herding each other around the yard. while Jazz pretended not to notice.
